Do You Really Sail Year Round?

YES! We are fortunate in the San Francisco Bay Area to be able to sail year round. With only 68 days a year of rain and mild temperatures year round, we can sail almost any day of the year. Even on rainy days we rarely cancel as we can usually shift schedules around it or head for parts of the Bay where it isn’t raining.. We won’t take you out in the rain or during winter storms. Under these circumstances we will reschedule or refund your money.

Summer - This is a fantastic time for sailing on the Bay. The winds are very predictable, generally arriving in the early afternoon and dying in the evening. We can take an exhilarating ride across the Slot where winds tend to be higher, or pick a mellower path and enjoy the sunshine and views. We also often get fantastic views of the famous San Francisco Fog trying to make its way in the Golden Gate or over the hills of Marin County.

Fall - Generally our warmest months in San Francisco. We can get wonderfully sunny, warm, days which are fantastic for a lazy sail. Winds are generally moderate and predictable, providing an excellent day on the Bay.

Winter - This is a surprisingly good time to sail in San Francisco. We do get winter storms but we generally get plenty of notice and can reschedule or cancel as necessary. But the storms are fairly few and we get many day of light winds and calm conditions on the water in between. One of our favorite times of year to sail, and we even get occasional t-shirt and shorts days!

Spring - Spring breezes are picking up offering great sailing conditions and fresh, clean air. The hills are green and the vistas are stunning.

What Should I Wear?

Dressing for sailing on the Bay can be a challenge. It can be warm and sunny or cool and breezy. Most likely all on the same day. In general it will be cooler on the water than it is on land. We suggest you bring layers and be prepared to add or remove them as needed. A warm layer and a windbreaker work great. A baseball hat is good for the sun and if you get chilled easily, a pair of light gloves and a warm hat can’t hurt. You can always duck into the cockpit or down into the cabin to warm up if it is cold out. Sunglasses are always a good idea and a pair of sneakers or court type shoes are recommended for traction, no boots or dark soled shoes allowed.

Where Do We Leave From?

We sail out of the wonderful, almost unknown Richmond Riviera. Located a short drive from San Francisco in the East Bay town of Pt. Richmond, it has a lot to offer. Beautiful scenery and views, warm temperatures, plenty of free parking with easy freeway access. Almost upon leaving the marina we can choose between multiple paths depending on the weather and guest desires. We can head to Angel Island and Marin for a leisurely and calm sail, we can head north for more of these conditions and beautiful, wild views. Or we can head into the central bay for more exhilarating sailing and stunning views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge.
